So...by now im sure the couches are free of spare change and you've returned all the beer cans and pop cans that added up over your weekend shenanigans. Its Sunday, there's NFL football going on and the Browns are still sucking. You've managed to scrounge up about 13 bucks in change. Here's what you pick up: 1lb of ground beef. 1lb. of ground pork Italian sausage. 1 can of San Marcos Chipotle Peppers in adobo sauce. 1 pack of hamburger buns. 1 pack of Munster cheese. 1 pack of thick cut peppered bacon and toothpicks. I am going to suggest that you always keep bacon in your house. Its essential. I cannot stress it enough! If you dont have any bacon, then you should hang your head in shame.
So now we can do this either one of 2 ways. You can get your hands real dirty or do it the smart way. Dont worry, your hands will get dirty but just not as much. If you happen to have a food processor then by all means use it. Just toss the ground beef and pork along with the can of peppers and adobo sauce in the processor and let the machine do all the chopping and blending work for you If you dont have access to a food processor, then break out the big bowl, a cutting board and a sharp knife. Finely chop the peppers until they have a nice minced consistency and throw them in the bowl with the ground beef and pork. DO NOT toss the adobo sauce away. Dump that in the bowl too! Notice how theres no need for extra seasonings with this recipe. Thats because there is no need for it! The bacon will suffice your sodium and pepper needs and the Italian pork sausage is loaded with its own spices.
So now crack open another beer if you still have some left. Go check the score of the game and after 6 or 7 minutes come back to flip your burgers. Your target temperature should be around 200 and 220 degrees. Remember that since you are using pork sausage, you have to cook your burger thoroughly. None of that pink in the middle crap this time. Also you want your bacon to crisp nicely!
| Told you not to worry about that lil guy! |
This is what you should be drooling over in your kitchen by now. Now feel free to garnish with your favorite burger toppings. Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, the whole works. It dont matter, these lil guys will blow your friggin mind! I went with a simple ketchup and country dijon mustard.
Well thats about it for now. Im planning a lot more of these affordable meals cooked out on the grill for the next month. Please feel free to try some of these out and comment on how they worked out for you and if you did something different than I. I was thinking a few slices of avocado would put this burger over the top!
